Pastor David Mattson

Pastor David Mattson

Senior Pastor

Welcome to Foothill Community Church! My name is Pastor Dave and I am so pleased that you have come to our web site. I've been asked to provide some quick information about myself, so here goes.

I was born and raised in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and Scottsdale, Arizona; the fifth of 6 children. I am a fraternal twin and my twin sister Debbie and her husband Craig attend FCC.

As to my Educational experience? I have a B.A. degree in Education from Arizona State University and a M.A. in Education from Talbot Theological Seminary. I've been a volunteer Young Life Leader in Arizona and Texas, and I've worked as an Associate Pastor to Youth and Families in Tempe, Arizona, Mission Viejo, California and Boston, Massachusetts.

Before God called me into the ministry I was a professional artist and recording artist with Larry Norman and Solid Rock Records. After decades of singing and playing the guitar, I now play drums on our Praise Team.

While working as the Associate Pastor to Families at the Chapel in the Pines in Arnold, Ca., I met my wife Judy and we were married in the fall of 1988. We began Foothill Community Church at that time. We have two children, Anthony and Trina, and two wonderful grandchildren Emma and Abby. My wife Judy is our Music Director and a graduate of Azusa Pacific University.

As to my preaching style? I try hard to make my faith lessons Biblically accurate, practical, relevant, and humorous. Included with each sermon is a slide presentation, as well as a sermon outline. It's important to me that you be given every opportunity to grow in your understanding of the Bible and I pray that when you leave the sanctuary you'll feel uplifted and encouraged in your faith.

If you are close enough to attend our church, I'd love to meet you after the service. Just come on up front and introduce yourself! God Bless!

Pastor Dusty Bach

Pastor Dusty Bach

Pastor to Jr. High & Sr. High Youth

As a native of Angels Camp, it is a blessing to do the work of the ministry in my "hometown". I am a 1993 graduate of Azusa Pacific University (Los Angeles, CA). My work experience includes 6 years in radio broadcasting and 3 years in sales and marketing before entering seminary training in 2002. During my seminary training, I worked as Athletics Chaplain at North Park University. I completed my Masters of Divinity degree at North Park Theological Seminary (Chicago, IL) in May 2006, and joined the FCC pastoral staff in December 2006.

I now reside in Angels Camp with my wife, Melanie, and our 2-year-old daughter Ella. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, playing golf, working on my father-in-law’s ranch, and rooting for the local sports teams.

Judy Mattson

Judy Mattson

Music Ministries Coordinator

My name is Judy Mattson and as you may have guessed, I am Pastor Dave's wife.

I was born and raised in Glendora, Southern California. My parents, Forrest and Pat Turner, along with my brother, Jim and his wife Sherry, attend F.C.C. I have two children, Anthony and Trina. Anthony is single and teaches at San Ramon Christian Academy in Danville, California. Trina is married to David Loucks and is an awesome mom to our wonderful grandchildren, Emma and Abby.

My musical training and experience began as a child. I accompanied choirs in elementary and high school, played the piano for my Church youth group and Sunday morning Worship Service. I continued my musical training at Azusa Pacific University from which I graduated with a B.A. in Music. I served as pianist and organist at various churches in Southern California and was organist, pianist and choir director for Chapel in the Pines in Arnold, California.

I'm a very shy person by nature. When you see me on Sunday mornings I'll probably be at the piano with my back toward the congregation. I would love to meet you and, if you are interested, invite you to join the choir. Please feel free to come up and say hello after the service on Sunday morning.

I am an avid San Francisco Giants and USC Trojan football fan!

Carla Smith

Carla Smith

Ministries Coordinator

It is my privilege to serve my FCC family as Ministries Coordinator. My responsibilities include establishing the calendar for use of the facilities for church events and ministries, Pastor Dave’s appointment schedule, and trying to keep up with the growing number of ministries. My greatest pleasure is matching people’s needs with people who can meet those needs. Our service-minded congregation makes this possible.

I have a B.A. in physical education from Chico State University and a teaching credential in Secondary Education from UC Davis. Most of my professional life has been spent teaching in high school and the Adult Fitness program at Columbia College. My last teaching assignment was Kindergarten at CFLC. It is a wide span from Kindergarten to adult education! The most rewarding aspect of teaching was training children to read.

My husband, Larry, and I have been married for 37 years. We met as sophomores at Calaveras High School. He has retired from Bret Harte High School and now is principal of CFLC. We have three children. Our son Jason is a photographer and lives with his wife in San Diego. Jessica and her family live in Vancouver, WA. They are awaiting a second baby. In 1988 we adopted a little girl from an orphanage in Bangkok, Thailand. She now lives in Los Angeles.

Walking, dancing, gardening and preparing food are my hobbies. I find delight and encouragement in the ministry of hospitality. Romans 12: 9-13.

Lori Tribble

Director of Children's Ministries

I grew up in Appleton, Wisconsin, the sixth of seven children. After receiving my Communications degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison, I moved to Davis California. While there, I worked for a local television station and for Mercy Healthcare Sacramento. While teaching at the TV station, I met my husband Derrick. We married in 1993. Two years later, our first child, Nicholas, came into the world, and in 1998, we were blessed with our second child, Emma.

When I was young, I went to church every Sunday and participated in youth programs there. But just like the statistics show, I went off to college without a firm grounding in my faith, and I fell away from the church. After Nicholas was born, Derrick and I realized we were missing something. We started attending a local Davis church, but still didn’t realize what was lacking.

Once we had Emma, we had the chance to move back to Murphys, where Derrick was raised. We soon started trying out churches. We finally attended Foothill Community Church, and finally found what we were looking for—a relationship with Jesus Christ, which had never been mentioned in any of our other churches. Since that day, I have been baptized and volunteered for various ministries, including being the Sunday School Coordinator for four years.

Through this time, I worked as a Finance Controller and Human Resources Director. But Derrick and I knew there was something else I should be doing. We prayed continually, until God gave us the answer. In June of 2008, I accepted the position of Director of Children’s Ministries. My prayer and goal is that our children’s and youth ministries at FCC will ground children of our church in their faith. When they depart from us, we want them to "always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have."

Maureen Reed

Maureen Reed

Secretary

I was born in Akron, Ohio and moved to California in 1973 when my husband, Bob, was transferred with his job. We have two daughters, Staci and Aimee, and four grandchildren, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Abigail and Magdalen. Both our daughters and their families live in Angels Camp.

Most of my working life was spent in the medical field as an x-ray technologist and then as a manager of outpatient radiology offices in the bay area. In 1997 I retired from the medical field and decided to look for something else. The church we attended had just lost their secretary to retirement and they were looking for a replacement. I applied for the position and was hired as secretary for the senior and associate pastor. I spent just under five years in that position until another job transfer took us from the bay area to the Sacramento area. While in the Sacramento area I completely changed professions and went to work for a bank in the compliance department. Though that was interesting, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to come to work for Foothill Community Church when this position became available.

In my spare time I love to read, sew and spend time with my family.
